Film Developed

I had a couple rolls of film sitting on my shelf collecting dust for the past few months and finally decided to get them developed, along with finishing off a half of one roll. The images that came back were pretty neat, a lot of stuff from May/April of this year. A good portion was some photographs I made while visiting my cousin up in Seattle Washington, here are a few from that trip. The first two are of the city it’s self, I love photographs of huge building clumped together making a sweet skyline. Along with this development process I learned that there is some light leakage going on somewhere, and the shutter on my Holga doesn’t quite match up with the flash sync the hot shoe puts out, that or I was doing something completely wrong that night and made half the roll black. Next time hopefully things will be different with the old Holga.

This one was from the top of the space needle

Self portrait time inside the library in downtown Seattle, WA. The library was a sight to see itself, each floor was different and the floor you see here was made up of RED hallways.

Finally to end it, was the trip back home, sitting on the plane waiting to get off so I can enjoy some awesome food that Austin, TX creates.

One Light

So if you have been following my work the past month or so and paid attention to my shooting, specifically lighting technique you would of noticed I’ve been using just one light. I read a lot, not books, but blogs and just about any other information on photography I can soak up on this beautiful internet. I have recently been following Zack Arias who does amazing work, and for the most part sticks with one light for lighting his subjects. I have always been a fan of simplicity as well as the cost of one vs. lots. What I’m more stoked on is to be taking my first photography workshop this coming October with Zack, I have taught my self up until now, and hope to learn a lot from this. After signing up for this workshop I have been trying my take on the simple one light techniques at lighting photographs. While I have 3 speed lights all ready for wireless action, I have set 2 aside and worked on just one for the time being. Here is a recent, a friend of mine just finished chopping and painting his new bike, he rode it over and asked for a quick photo and five minutes later he rode off. Just a quick shot with one light up high and to the right of the camera, nothing amazing about the picture, just simple.

iPhone 3gs Camera

So I got this phone the day it was released, and since have put the new camera through its rounds. The auto focus is what makes it, the pictures the phone produces are now actually somewhat sharp instead of a complete blur. Not to mention the fact that you can shoot the focus point, and it sets the exposure for that spot. Thanks to this I now have a decent camera with me at all times, and the extra megapixel doesn’t hurt either. Once I’m done I open them up in my favorite app, Camera Bag and process the picture with its now even faster processor I can make some pretty awesome pictures with this camera. Here is some to prove it, all taken with the new iphone 3gs, and edited with the Camera Bag app:
