Cooper at 6 months
Just a few months ago I photographed Cooper for the first time, and last night I got to spend the evening with him again. Despite the cold the little guy toughed it out without one complaint and managed to be super cute in his little beanie. The location was this years “Trail of Lights”, which is far from what it was last year… a few lights, a big tree of lights, and some food stands seemed like all you saw this year. Bummer…. But some great photographs came from it. Unlike my last post where I lit up a parking garage like a studio this shoot was all available light from the lit up trees, huge work lights the city set up, and a small LED light from the handlebars on my bicycle!

The next three photos is where the LED light came in handy.

Robot Cooper

Cooper has some rad parents and I cant wait to document the rest of his first year!
Laura Lee Bishop
I had the pleasure of photographing the local artist Laura Lee Bishop this past weekend in a downtown parking garage. The inside was lined with white brick wall, concrete floors, and ceiling; I setup shop and lit the place up like a studio.

Got outside just after the sun began to hide….

….and found this amazing hole of light where the sun was bouncing off a gold building behind us. Light like this is to good to pass up, just something you can’t plan for, and you HAVE to take advantage of.

Then back inside with the rest of her band.

Busy, busy, busy….
Lots going on, and I’ve been either to busy or tired to get on here and give you some previews lately, so here is a big random update. I’ll start with the most recent, bicycles… I’ve been riding my little kids bicycle around quite a bit and have been having a blast. This past weekend there was a small jam/demo at a skatepark up north called Ramp Ranch, I snapped this quick shot of Hanson Little jumping out of the bowl quarter on the far right and wall riding into the small quarter. It was up on Mutiny Bikes website after the jam which was pretty rad! Go ride a bike now!

Next up is some film, I recently purchased myself a new film camera and have been shooting more film than usual. When I say new, I do mean new to me as the camera is 10 years old (Nikon F100 if your curious)! Here is a couple from the last roll I got developed from the old F100.

and here from the cult classic… Holga

Last month I did a press kit shoot with the local band We Paint The Town

Finally, a quick editorial shoot for a new small indie music magazine out of San Antonio called Backbeat Magazine for a gear talk section with a local musician. Robert Cherry brought out a couple speakers and a lot of cables, to bad we didn’t make and loud noises.

One final thing, I recently setup a facebook page, so please add it and spread the word.
High Watt Crucifixers
Here is a quick look into what comes out of a press kit photo shoot between myself and a local Rock n’ Roll band High Watt Crucifixers. I spent a little over a hour with them this past weekend in and around The Highball here in Austin, that is itself a work of art! The Highball is a rad new bowling alley, skee-ball, karaoke, and restaurant/bar all in one location, that is straight out of the 60′s! Anyways, here are my favorite photographs from the evening. Please contact me for any questions/inquiries for setting up a shoot similar to this for your band.

Fun Fun Fun Fun Fun Fun Fun Fun Fun Fun Fest
I haven’t had much to blog about lately but that will all change tomorrow night, Fun Fun Fun Fest is this weekend at Waterloo park and pre shows are about to start, then Fun Fun Fun Fest! Check back in this weekend for pictures from a lot of bands, and a lot of fun from Fun Fun Fun Fest. Until then here is a photo of my friends dog Chewy!

Now that was a lot of FUN!
Cooper at 3 months
I spent a few hours with a little guy named Cooper the other day, I must say that I’m a bit jealous of his sweet Dr. Seuss room. He also has a sweet Basset Hound dog to grow up with, I’ll be shooting some more of this little guy the next year, but here are a few of my favorites from this shoot.

Motörhead
Last night was pretty rad, I had the chance to take some photos of Motörhead live here in Austin, TX at Stubbs BBQ, also Reverend Horton Heat. I missed out on the first band that played (Nashville Pussy) due to the show actually starting early which is pretty rare here in town. I showed up right after the other photographers got the boot from the press pit, so I missed out on taking any photos of them, and don’t get me started on my opinions to the 3 song rule. The show was great, and Motörhead was super loud, so glad I remembered my ear plugs. I covered this for the Austinist, so be sure to go check out my set on the Austinist website and the other good they have for any Austinite. As well as prints are available right here as usual.
Heres some of my favorites:
June!
You may recognize June if you have looked through my portfolio any, she is a friend of mine’s daughter and extremely cute! I’ve done a series of shoots with her throughout the past year and this was the last of that series ending with her being 1 year old. Other than getting bigger and able to run faster she still makes the same awesome face and hand expressions, I spent a few hours with her Saturday morning down by Town Lake/Lady Bird Lake and for well over 50 great shots, I liked them all but I just can’t let myself post 50 pictures in a blog posting, so here is 10 of my favorites. Oh, and the dogs came out for this one.

The Germs
Germs put on a great show, if you don’t know who they are then google them, but then again, if you don’t know who they are there is a good chance you wont like them. Shane West portrayed the singer Darby Crash in the movie “What we do is Secret”, Shane has also played in quite a few hollywood hits, and TV series, such as ER. I definitely recommend the movie if you wanna find out about this band, or are just a fan. The show was great and Shane did a great job at vocals, I was definitely impressed. Another awesome thing was standing within feet from Pat Smear, who was the original guitarist for the Germs but also toured with Nirvana, and original guitar for Foo Fighters, pretty awesome. A few other great bands performed before them, Guilt Trip, Coptic Times, and Krum Bums… AND Mr. Lifto, which was a sight to be seen, definitely look him up if you haven’t heard of him before.
Now, for the pictures… enjoy!

Zach and Mary
The 4th of July this year some friends of mine got hitched, Zach and Mary Frady. It was a awesome day, and I was stoked to be there to document the day for them.

iPhone 3gs Camera
So I got this phone the day it was released, and since have put the new camera through its rounds. The auto focus is what makes it, the pictures the phone produces are now actually somewhat sharp instead of a complete blur. Not to mention the fact that you can shoot the focus point, and it sets the exposure for that spot. Thanks to this I now have a decent camera with me at all times, and the extra megapixel doesn’t hurt either. Once I’m done I open them up in my favorite app, Camera Bag and process the picture with its now even faster processor I can make some pretty awesome pictures with this camera. Here is some to prove it, all taken with the new iphone 3gs, and edited with the Camera Bag app:
